Immediate Dentures

Immediate dentures are placed the same day as your extractions. You will have teeth when you leave our office and they will be lined with a soft liner so as to be more comfortable on your extraction sites. You will wear your Immediate dentures until your gums heal and the bone has remodeled. Usually, this is for a period of about 6 months. After your healing period, your dentures can be relined to fit the remodeled ridge of your gums. By getting an immediate denture, you won’t have to go without teeth during healing.. Simple joys such as talking and eating can become a source of anxiety for those without teeth. Our team at Sunrise Dental are here to help. We will begin preparing your immediate dentures before your teeth are extracted and provide you with the care needed to keep you smiling confidently.

Caring for Your Immediate Dentures

After your extractions, it’s important to follow all the postoperative instructions provided to you. Regular check-ups and maintenance will help us to monitor healing and greatly reduce the risk of complications. Components of your same day dentures such as temporary linings and tissue conditioners will help create an optimal fit and may need to be adjusted or replaced during your healing process.

If your dentures have a soft, temporary liner, it is best to just rinse them off in cool water and gently brush the teeth area only, with a very soft toothbrush. Do not brush the soft liner with a toothbrush.

If your dentures chip, crack or become loose, don’t hesitate to call us at 623-487-4870. Our Peoria Dentist team at Sunrise Dental is here to help, whether it be for a consultation, follow up, or other concerns.
